In 2025, domestic tourism expenditure in Kazakhstan rose to KZT 659.2 billion, though hotel accommodation accounted for just 12.2% of total traveler spend.

In 2025, the number of domestic tourists staying at commercial accommodations in Kazakhstan reached 10.1 million—an increase of approximately 1 million over 2024. According to data from the Bureau of National Statistics cited by Kazinform, hospitality infrastructure continues to expand: the total count of hotels and resorts grew to 4,482 properties, boasting a combined capacity of over 233,000 beds.
- Kazakhstan’s accommodation sector welcomed 10.1 million domestic tourists in 2025, with the total number of properties exceeding 4,400.
- Total expenditure on domestic travel reached KZT 659.2 billion, though accommodation accounted for only 12.2% of overall traveler budgets.
- Three new airports are scheduled for completion by the end of 2026 in the resort areas of Katon-Karagay, Zaysan, and Kenderli.
Domestic travel expenditures among citizens increased in tandem. In 2025, household spending on domestic tourism totaled KZT 659.2 billion, up 13.1% compared to 2024 (KZT 582.7 billion). However, real growth in travel spend only slightly outpaced official inflation, which stood at 12.3% for 2025.
In terms of spend breakdown, retail purchases (25.7%) and transportation (25.5%) claimed the largest shares of travel budgets. Dining accounted for 20.8%, while accommodation accounted for just 12.2%. According to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, total capital investment attracted into the sector reached KZT 1.25 trillion in 2025, with tax revenues surpassing KZT 630 billion.
Transport infrastructure is undergoing a parallel upgrade: construction of three new regional airports in the resort zones of Katon-Karagay, Zaysan, and Kenderli is slated for completion by the end of 2026.
For tour operators and hoteliers, these statistics highlight that rising tourist arrivals do not automatically yield a proportional boost in hotel revenues, as the bulk of travel spending goes toward transit and retail. Hospitality leaders and travel agents should account for this modest share of accommodation spend by crafting bundled packages that incorporate ground transport and guided excursion experiences.
