The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Bangkok has issued a warning to citizens regarding technical issues on the official Thai E-Visa platform. According to diplomatic mission reports cited by UzDaily, users are experiencing incorrect application status displays and delays in receiving email confirmations. In several instances, travelers have been unable to undertake their journeys due to awaiting documents immediately prior to departure, or have received approval notifications without the actual visa file attached. While the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs states a maximum processing time of up to 10 days, confirmations in practice take approximately 15 days following the payment of fees. Payments must be made in cash at the Royal Thai Embassy in Moscow or via third parties, including travel agents. Effective September 15, Thailand discontinued the 60-day visa-free regime for citizens of Uzbekistan.
- The Consulate General of Uzbekistan has recorded disruptions and delays within the Thai E-Visa issuance system.
- In practice, visa confirmations arrive on average 15 days after fee settlement, despite the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs stipulating a 10-day timeframe.
- The Thai Ministry of Finance is considering the introduction of a new air departure tax ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 baht.
Concurrently, the Ministry of Finance of Thailand is reviewing a legislative proposal to introduce a new departure fee for international air travel, according to The Nation newspaper. The initial levy could amount to 1,000 baht (approximately $30), with potential future increases up to 5,000 baht (around $150). Public consultations on this initiative will run through October 29. Plans are underway for airlines or ticketing agents to eventually incorporate this fee directly into airfares.
When planning a journey to Thailand, travelers should allocate at least 15 to 20 days for visa processing and account for potential technical delays on the Thai E-Visa portal. Documentation should be submitted proactively, keeping in mind that fee payments may require visiting the Thai Embassy in Moscow or engaging authorized representatives.
