Kazakh flag carrier Air Astana will launch new scheduled passenger services in October to Salalah, Oman's second most populous city, as reported by business outlet Kapital.kz.
According to the publication, the airline will commence operations on two new routes in late October. Weekly flights from Almaty are scheduled to start on October 23, operating on Fridays. Services from Kazakhstan's capital, Astana, will launch on October 24 and run on Saturdays. The carrier plans to deploy Airbus A320 aircraft on both routes.
Currently, scheduled air links between Kazakhstan and the Sultanate of Oman are limited to a single route connecting Almaty with the Omani capital, Muscat, operated by foreign carrier Salam Air. With Air Astana’s launch, travelers will gain a direct connection to Oman’s second key urban center.
What this means for travelers
- Two departure points: Direct flights will be available from both Almaty (Fridays starting October 23) and Astana (Saturdays starting October 24).
- Aircraft type: Routes will be operated using narrow-body Airbus A320 aircraft. Travelers are advised to review baggage allowances and fare conditions for this aircraft type on the airline's website prior to booking.
