Eduard Kubatov Highlights Bishkek Arena's Potential for Tourism Growth
A Shakira concert at the Bishkek Arena could generate approximately $30 million for Kyrgyzstan's economy through foreign tourist spending, according to Eduard Kubatov, Head of the State Agency for Tourism Development.

Eduard Kubatov, Head of the State Agency for Tourism Development of the Kyrgyz Republic, has evaluated the economic impact of major concert events at the under-construction Bishkek Arena, national news agency Kabar reports. He estimates that a performance by a global superstar like Shakira could generate around $30 million for the national economy through inbound visitor expenditure.
- A Shakira concert at the Bishkek Arena could draw approximately 30,000 international visitors.
- The agency estimates average spend per foreign tourist at approximately $940 during their stay.
- Hosting 15–20 major events annually could enable the venue to achieve ROI within 5–7 years.
According to agency projections, total event attendance is expected to reach approximately 60,000, with half (30,000 attendees) coming from overseas. Conservative forecasts suggest each international visitor will spend around $940 in the republic, covering ticketing, accommodation, transit, and local spending. Kubatov added that hosting 15 to 20 large-scale events would allow the venue to recoup its investment within five to seven years.
Tour operators and hoteliers should factor Bishkek's event tourism development strategy and the upcoming launch of a major world-class venue for concerts and festivals into their business planning.
