First One-Design Yacht Fleet Launched on Lake Issyk-Kul in Cholpon-Ata
Lake Issyk-Kul in Cholpon-Ata has welcomed its first one-design yacht fleet. The Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan supported preferential customs clearance for sports sailing vessels.

The first one-design yacht fleet has been launched on Lake Issyk-Kul in Cholpon-Ata. According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, as reported by K-News, Minister Bakyt Sydykov attended the official opening ceremony. The project was brought to life by the teams of initiator Evgeny Kotov and the Sailing Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The establishment of the sailing fleet aims to develop water sports and outdoor recreation along the coast, as well as to attract travelers during the off-season. The infrastructure is designed for athlete training and hosting international-level sailing competitions.
Furthermore, in 2025, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce backed the Sailing Federation's initiative to reduce administrative barriers. The agency reviewed proposals to exempt sports equipment and sailing yachts from customs duties, as well as to streamline temporary import procedures for competition vessels. The development of the tourism sector is officially anchored in the National Development Program of Kyrgyzstan through 2030.
