Challenge Samarkand 2026 International Sports Festival Concludes in Samarkand
Samarkand has hosted the fourth international sports festival, Challenge Samarkand, bringing together over 1,400 participants from more than 40 countries.

The competition program featured performances by professional athletes and amateurs across various distances. Participants competed in swimming, cycling, and running in the Middle and Sprint distances, alongside dedicated children's and women's races. The festival also hosted the Open Triathlon Championship of Uzbekistan.
In the men's PRO category, French athlete Sam Laidlow claimed victory, with Emil Holm of Denmark taking second place, and Will Draper of Great Britain finishing third. Among the women, Natalie van Coevorden of Australia took first place, Daisy Davies of Great Britain second, and Sara Perez Sala of Spain third.
The competition was organized by the Triathlon Federation of Uzbekistan with the support of dozens of government agencies, volunteers, and World Triathlon Level 1 technical officials. The title sponsor of the event was the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine, with events hosted across the venues of the Silk Road Samarkand tourist center.
The organizers have announced the dates for the upcoming festival: Challenge Samarkand is scheduled for August 21–22, 2027.
